Grammaticus, discipulus Philetae, vixit temporibus Prolemaei primi, cuius etiam filios erudiit, ac praefuit Alexandrinae Bibliothecae: primus quoque Homeri libros correxit, ac in ordinem redegit, Suidas. Alius Sophista sub Adriano Imperatore docuit Romae, scripsitque eptiomen proverbiorum Didymi: convertit in Graecum sermonem historiam Sallustii, praeterea Genethliacum in Adrianum, et alia. Suidas.
